Going Gallivanting Through The Garden Of The Gods

In all of the years that I have lived in Colorado Springs (15 years as of this December) I have actually missed out on some of the great tourist attractions here in this fair city. One of them is The Garden Of The Gods, and while I have driven through it I had never actually taken a walk through it, a real up close and personal view of it…that is until August 18th 2010.

When our cousin Jason Jensen came for a visit one of the things that we did with him was visit The Garden Of The Gods. Originally, Jordan, Erin, Jason and myself were going to check out Pikes Peak…that is until we found out that there is a $40 charge per car (or $8 per individual)!! That’s outrageous!! And it’s not like the money will be used to fix those dang potholes throughout the city, right?!

Anyway, The Garden Of The Gods is a free tourist attraction (key word there is FREE), so that got our vote! We went in the late afternoon, so while it was hot and sunny it wasn’t scorching hot and it was still light outside so we could see and enjoy the sights.

I was in awe of these magnificent structures, these rocks carved up into various shapes and styles. And there were some fantastic places where you were permitted to climb/hike (and some that weren’t permitted, but we still climbed/hiked them--breaking the law!!) It was such a fun experience and I think everyone else had fun, too. Here are some more pictures from the experience - enjoy:
